Our team is dedicated to the health, wellbeing and best interests of your pets. We pride ourselves on the professional and compassionate care that each of us provides.

Kerstin Politz

After working for 20 years as a small animal vet in her native Germany, where she graduated in 1987, Kerstin and her English husband moved to the UK in January 2011.

Initially working at practices in Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Suffolk, Kerstin joined the team at Haughley and Thurston in November 2014. Her passion for small animal medicine developed during her childhood and to this day she is certain that she couldn't have chosen a more rewarding career. Her areas of special interest include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology.

At home she has a bouncy black Labrador who's mission is to show her as much of the Suffolk countryside as is caninely possible and a Poodle Terrier cross who proves the viability of perpetual motion.

Sarah Cole M.R.C.V.S

Sarah qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008 and has worked in several practices in Suffolk, as well as spending a year working in emergency medicine and a year working in the USA. She has three rescue dogs with whom she enjoys exploring the Suffolk countryside and two rescue chickens. She is also keen on birdwatching and nature photography.

Jess Blake BvetMed M.R.C.V.S

Jess graduated from the RVC in London in 2007 and has worked in various small animal practices across Norfolk and Suffolk. She joined us in September 2017, in order to settle back near to her family. She has a keen interest in the medicine side of things and is currently studying towards a certificate in this area. Our new up to date ultrasound scanner at Thurston is getting plenty of use as Jess enjoys diagnostic imaging and can confidently diagnose a variety of disorders. In her spare time, Jess enjoys walking her lively Springer Spaniel called Dora, travelling and experimenting in the kitchen.

Mandy works predominantly at the Haughley branch and is our longest standing member, she has been with us since 1986. She has an interest in Dachshunds and has a special boy of her own.

Mandy is on the committee of the Dachshund Trials Club where trails are laid for the dogs to follow, eventually hoping to join the register to track injured deer. She loves walking, regularly camping at the coast with her dog.

Mandy has a keen interest in all things WWII and hopes one day to own a 'ferret' - four wheels not four legged!

Anita has been with the practices since 1993 and now works mainly at the Thurston branch.

She as a wide knowledge and experience of wildlife care and rehabilitation including birds of prey. She also enjoys hand rearing anything that needs helping along and normally has a number of recuperating hedgehogs hidden at home!

She has four dogs of her own, one cat, 2 giant rabbits alongside rescue rabbits, guinea pigs and a hampster. Oh yes, and 2 adult sons with 4 grandchildren.

Helen also organises training sessions for other Leonbergers, both carting and water rescue.

Leanne has been with Thurston and Haughley vets since April 2007.  She achieved her Assistant Veterinary Nursing Certificate in 2009. Leanne has a West Highland White Terrier and a rabbit.

Rachel joined us originally in 2000 and worked at both practices for 10 years. She has recently returned to us after a break away and we hope she will stay for another 10 or more! Rachel has a black Labrador called Willow and enjoys walking and exercising, target archery and water colour painting. She has two grown up children, one of whom lives in Australia. Rachel enjoyed visiting her and exploring the country.
